Q. How do I apply for a building permit?
A. Starting January 1, Pueblo County will have four online permit applications: Commercial, Residential, Over-the-Counter, and Special Inspections. You’ll be able to find all of them at PuebloPermits.com or on the Planning & Development webpage, in the same area where you access all other Planning & Development applications. Just click the Pueblo County Building Division tile and follow the prompts.
Q. How do I register as a contractor with Pueblo County?
A. Contractor's License Registration is already live at PuebloPermits.com. You can also find the the application for registration linked on the Pueblo County website, right next to all other Planning and Development and Public Works applications.
When you open the Pueblo County Building Division tile, you’ll see the Contractor's License Registration application.
A checklist detailing all required prerequisites will be included right on the front of the application.
Q. What happens to existing Pueblo Regional Building Department (PRBD) permits after January 1?
A. Pueblo County will take over all active county permits from PRBD on January 1, 2026.
There are no extra fees, and we will honor all previous inspections, plan reviews, and approvals.
You will not need to restart or resubmit anything—your permit simply continues with the County.
