UPDATE: PRBD Permit Transfers and Inspection Requests

Pueblo County Building Division Transition

Posted: December 18, 2025

Beginning January 1, 2026, Pueblo County Building Division will takeover all active permits from Pueblo Regional Building Department and launch streamlined operations for Pueblo County residents, contractors, and design professionals.

What this means for you

  • Building, permitting, and inspection services will now be managed through Pueblo County for projects located in unincorporated Pueblo County including Pueblo West, Beulah, Rye, Colorado City and Avondale.
  • Existing codes, standards, and requirements remain in effect unless otherwise noted.
  • New tools and resources are being added to make it easier to estimate costs, find information, and prepare applications.
  • There are no extra fees, and we will honor all previous inspections, plan reviews, and approvals.
You will not need to restart or resubmit anything—your permit simply continues with the County.

Important dates

  • Permit applications and inspections will be available beginning January 5, 2026.
  • Emergency inspections will be handled as needed prior to January 5, 2026.
  • Any requests submitted prior to this date will be handled according to transition guidance from Southern Colorado Building Division (formerly Pueblo Regional Building Department) and Pueblo County.
